How Much Does Mice Control Cost?

There is no single price for dealing with mice because every job is different. These are the things that move the cost up or down, so you can see why a quote looks the way it does.

Why mouse treatments are priced individually

A mouse in a modern flat that came in through one gap is a very different job from a colony living behind kitchen units in a terrace. For that reason, honest pricing starts with a survey rather than a fixed figure over the phone. We offer a free survey and quote, so you know the cost before any work begins.

It helps to know what each stage of the work involves. The survey finds where the mice are and how they get in. Treatment removes the animals, using traps or controlled bait in secured stations. Proofing closes the gaps. Finally, monitoring makes sure nothing returns. Each stage takes time, and your quote should make clear which parts it covers.

What changes the price

  • Size and layout of the property, including lofts, cellars, outbuildings and garages
  • How far the infestation has spread and how many rooms show activity
  • How easy it is to reach the areas where mice are travelling
  • The number of visits needed to monitor and clear the problem
  • Whether follow-up checks are included once activity stops
  • The amount of proofing and sealing the building needs

Extent of the problem

A light, recent problem may need only a short programme of visits. A long-running one often involves several rooms, nesting sites, damaged insulation and multiple entry points, which takes more time. Left alone, a small group of mice can grow, so an early call often keeps the work, and therefore the cost, smaller.

Access and building type

Old stone houses with voids under floors and shared walls take longer to inspect and proof than a simple modern semi. Flats and terraces can need neighbours to be involved, since mice move between adjoining properties. Rooms that are heavily stored, or ceilings that need lifting, add to the time required.

The lowest-priced option is not always the lowest cost in the end. A treatment that skips proofing may need repeating.

Proofing and follow-up

Treatment removes the mice you have, while proofing stops the next group from arriving. Proofing might include sealing gaps around pipes, fitting door brushes, repairing air bricks and fixing damaged vents. Some customers choose to do small repairs themselves, and that can reduce the work we need to quote for. Ongoing checks are available for homes and businesses that want regular monitoring.

Getting a clear quote

Businesses often prefer a service contract, because regular visits keep the cost predictable and provide the written records that inspectors and customers may ask for. Homes with a history of mice, or with neighbours who have had them, can benefit from a similar arrangement. Commercial service contracts are available, and we are happy to explain what one would include.

When you call, tell us what you have seen, where, and for how long. Photos of droppings or damage help a great deal. We will explain what we recommend, what is optional and how many visits we expect. Questions on this topic

Is there a fixed price for removing mice?

Not usually, because the work depends on the property, the extent of the problem and how many visits are needed. A free survey lets us see the situation and give a quote you can accept or decline without obligation.

Does a bigger house always cost more to treat?

Not always. A large, well-maintained house with one entry point may be quicker than a small terrace with several. What matters most is the amount of activity, how accessible the runs are and how much proofing is needed.

Is proofing included in the quote?

It depends on the property. We will tell you what proofing we recommend and show it separately where possible, so you can decide what to include now and what to leave for later.
