Ossett is a market town west of Wakefield, with stone terraces from its textile days and later housing around them. We deal with the usual household pests across both.
Stone terraces from the textile era were built for people who lived close together, and the buildings still share chimney stacks, cellars and walls. Mice and wasps use those connections. When one house hears scratching, it is worth asking the neighbours, because the chances are the pest is travelling along the row. Check the loft hatch and chimney breast for warm droppings.
Newer housing around the town has gardens, garages and shared fence lines that suit rats, ants and fleas carried in from pets. Ossett's market-town centre also has small businesses with back yards and bins. In every case, we begin by working out how the pest is getting in and where it is living, and only then discuss treatment. Do mention any pets when you call.
Not indoors. Fleas persist as eggs and pupae in carpets and bedding, and central heating keeps conditions suitable. They can emerge weeks after you think they are gone, so the treatment needs follow-up. Vacuuming helps but does not finish the job.
Sometimes for simple jobs, though most quotes follow a survey, which is free for homes and businesses. A short description helps us gauge the work and tell you what to expect. We never charge for the survey.
Most people never see the pest itself, only what it leaves behind. Here is how to read the clues in your home and work out what you are dealing with before you spend money on a fix.
Read the advice →Clearing a pest problem is rarely about one product. It is a short sequence of jobs, done in the right order, and the order matters more than the brand of spray in the cupboard.
Read the advice →Pest control does not have one price, because no two jobs are the same. This guide explains what moves the price up or down so you can judge a quote sensibly.
Read the advice →Pests rarely announce themselves. This guide covers the early warning signs, the damage that follows if they are left alone, and the health and property risks worth taking seriously.
Read the advice →Prevention works better when it follows the calendar. Different pests become active at different times, so a few small jobs in the right season do more than one big clear-out.
Read the advice →Some pest problems you can sort out yourself with patience and the right product. Others cost more time and money if you try. Here is how to tell the difference.
