Barnsley's older town-centre property and many later estates all contain the wool and fluff carpet beetle larvae feed on. We inspect, find the source and treat.
A large South Yorkshire town with a coal and glass heritage has housing from several eras, and carpet beetles are indifferent to which. In older town-centre property, they find old floors and cupboards; on the many later estates, they find fitted carpet and bedroom storage. Barnsley Council covers the area, but private homes and businesses deal with these insects themselves.
The pattern we see most often is gradual: a rug that sheds, a coat with small holes, a handful of beetles on a sill in May. It is easy to ignore until something valuable is damaged. We inspect the room with the evidence, the surrounding furniture and the storage, then treat what is active. For shops and offices, commercial service contracts are available for regular checks.
Councils generally deal with public health pests in specific circumstances, but fabric pests in private homes are usually the occupier's or landlord's responsibility. Check with your council or landlord if you are unsure. We can inspect and treat privately.
Ask what they will inspect, what they will treat and how many visits to expect. Check that they are insured and that technicians are trained. A reputable one will explain findings plainly and not promise more than the evidence supports.
