West of Wakefield, Ossett combines stone terraces from its textile days with later housing. Carpet beetle larvae can establish in any of it, and we track them down.
It usually begins with a discovery, such as a cast skin in a wardrobe or a rug that sheds when you pick it up. In Ossett's stone terraces, that is often the sign of larvae feeding below, in a floor void or behind a skirting. Terrace walls are thick and houses are often joined, so insects can wander further than people expect.
Later housing is more straightforward, with fitted carpet on a concrete or screed base. Larvae in these homes are mainly in the carpet and underlay, along edges and under heavy furniture, and fixing it is more about reaching those places. We do not use a standard approach: we examine, decide what is feeding them, treat that, and agree what follow-up looks like. Same-day appointments are available, and the survey and quote are free.
Yes. Larvae prefer dark, undisturbed areas, so the worst damage is often underneath rugs, behind furniture or at the back of cupboards. You may only notice when you move something. Lifting edges is a standard part of an inspection.
It helps if we can see the back and base of the wardrobe, but you do not need to deep clean first. We can go through what is there, and advise on washing or removing items that show signs of larvae.
